Texas Hitters Roll Over Devil Rays in Series Win

by @ 5:57 am. Filed under 2007 Rangers

The Rangers really got their hitters going in their three game series against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.  While they lost the series finale, they racked up 25 runs in the three games.

On Monday, Brandon McCarthy picked up his first Ranger win.  He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.  Ian Kinsler had four hits and two RBIs while Hank Blalock went two for four with an RBI and two runs in the 8-4 win.

The Rangers got even more offense on Tuesday.  Kenny Lofton, Ian Kinsler and Frank Catalanotto all went yard.  Lofton had three RBIs and three runs while Cataloanotto drove in four runs in a 12-9 win.  The pitching wasn’t as good and Jamey Wright didn’t even last through the third inning.  Scott Feldman ended up with the win after he threw 2 1/3 shutout innings.

Unfortunately, the Rangers couldn’t finish up the sweep.  Robinson Tejada was shelled for six runs in the first three innings and while the Rangers eventually made it a one run game, that was the closest they got.  Michael Young pretty much put the team on his back in this one.  He homered twice and drove in four.

The Rangers are now just a game below .500 and they’re just two games back of the Angels.  Texas gets the day off today but then they travel to Seattle for a three game series.  Fortunately, Felix Hernandez threw yesterday so we won’t be seeing him.  Kevin Millwood gets the start tomorrow.
