Rangers Edge Mariners 5-4

by @ 7:29 am. Filed under 2011 Rangers

We’re less then a week away from the Rangers defense of their AL crown and in the meantime, we have some spring games to wrap up.  Yesterday, they needed ten innings but they got it done in a 5-4 win over the Mariners.  Colby Lewis threw five innings and he gave up three runs while  the pen did a nice job of keeping the Rangers in this one.  Five different relievers pitched an inning a piece to finish up the game.

Michael Young continued to rake and he went three for five with three RBIs.  Matt Treanor hit a home run and Adrian Beltre went two for four with a run and an RBI.

The home opener is Friday against Boston.  I can’t wait.

Tons of young talent on this team, they will be very dangerous come October. Would have been amazing if they could have hung onto Vlady for a few more seasons, he still has plenty of baseball left in him. I look for the Rangers to challenge both the Red Sox and Yankees again this year for the AL Crown.
