C.J. Wilson Pitches Rangers to Win Over Red Sox

by @ 11:10 pm. Filed under 2011 Rangers

C. J. Wilson didn’t last through the seventh inning, but he didn’t allow a run and he gave a lead to one of the more effective bullpens in the game right now.  With the 4-0 win, Wilson improved to 13-5 and he gave up four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.  Adams and Feliz pitched a shutout inning a piece to close out the game.

Mike Napoli had the big hit.  He belted a three run blast with two outs in the sixth inning.  That was his 21st home run of the season.  Michael Young had a pair of singles and he scored a run.

The Rangers are hardly safe with a month still left to play but in the same vein, it’s time to start thinking about playoff tickets.  Still, I like the Rangers chances and it’ll make these head to head match ups with the Angels that much more fun to watch.
