The Rangers picked up some left handed help out of the bullpen today when they signed the venerable Arthur Rhodes to a one year deal. At one point in time, Rhodes was one of the dominant relievers and while he regressed pretty quickly, he’s had a nice run with the Reds the past couple of years. He still struck out close to a batter an inning last year so even in his 40s, he can dial it up.
Of course now we have to wait to see if the Rangers are going to bring back Vlad Guerrero (which is expected) and possibly bring in Brandon Webb, the former Cy Young winner who’s been out most of the past two seasons. Both would be nice to have in the fold but it doesn’t look like the deals are going to get done until after Christmas.
