Rangers Top Twenty Prospects

by @ 6:42 am. Filed under 2011 Rangers

John Sickels recently released his top Rangers prospect list on the heels of the Rangers loss to the Giants.  Most of the Rangers top prospects the past couple of years are now with the big league team so for the time being, the Rangers farm system is a little thin.  Still, there’s some talent in the wings.

Junkson Profar comes out at number one.  Sickels gave him a B+ but said he might be a borderline A-.  After that there’s a pair of B+ left handed pitchers in Martin Perez and Robbie Erlin.  After that it things out with right handed pitcher Tanner Scheppers and third baseman Mike Ott rounding out the top five with B grades.  Good stuff here and when I use Sickels list with a couple of others I like, I usually get a pretty good feel for the state of the system.
